NSS Special Camp concluded

A weeklong special NSS camp under the theme "Tree Plantation under Mission GO GREEN" concluded at Presidency College Motbung on Wednesday.
.LKeronchandra Singh, Programme Officer NSS Unit PCM said that the Special Camp was conducted under the initiative of NSS Cell, Manipur University for a week to enhance the career of the college students and bring out their hidden talents in various fields.
More than 700 different varieties of saplings were planted in and around the NSS Unit PCM adopted village Motbung during the camp participated by more than 100 college students and staffs of Presidency College Motbung as well as denizens of Motbung village.
The Programme Officer further said plantation of saplings will help reduce global warming in the near future and it will provide eco-friendly environment too.
Under the initiative of NSS Cell, Manipur University, the "Mission Go Green" has been launched since August 12 last year to plant a minimum of one lakh saplings in Manipur in collaboration with 92 NSS Units, L.Keronchandra Singh said, informing that so far around 9000 saplings have been planted.
While lauding the Chief Conservator of Forest, Govt.of Manipur for providing saplings as per the requirement of the Cell, L.Keronchandra appealed to every denizen of the state to take due care of the saplings planted to ensure that their proper growth.
