AR holds zero garbage drive

Imphal, February 19 2018:
11 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) organised a programme on "Zero Garbage Drive" at Mission Veng village today wherein a total of 16 villagers including four female were briefed regarding the importance of cleanliness and motivated to keep their village clean, informed a press release from PRO IGAR (S) .
Assam Rifles personnel along with overwhelming support from the villagers made combined efforts to make the village area clean and spread awareness amongst the locals.
The villagers were briefed regarding proper waste disposal and they were also encouraged to stop use of polythenes to enable preserving the environment.
They were also advised to throw the waste only in dustbins and earmarked pits which should be cleaned/ regulated regularly.
The villagers were also encouraged to make use of toilets for keeping the environment clean, it said.
The vigorous efforts were concluded with tea and refreshment for the participants.
The event was dedicated to the ongoing 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' an initiative of the Prime Minister, which is being encouraged as a movement in various parts of the country.
Assam Rifles has been promoting 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' initiative in remote areas of North East as well, it added.
