Lamjir utcum festival to be held

Imphal, November 18 2018:
A one day cultural cum Lamjir utcum festival will be held on December 4 at Aimol Ngairong village, under Tengnoupal district, with the objective of preserving the culture and tradition of Aimol tribe.
This was stated by LN Songailien, chairmen of the festival committee during a press conference held at Manipur Press Club today.
Speaking to media persons, he said that Lamjir utcum (Development of road for harvesting) cum cultural festival is going to be held from this year onward to preserve the rich ethnic culture and tradition of Aimol tribe which was passed down by their forefather.
He continued that culture, identity and tradition of Aimol tribe are in danger of becoming extinct and as such the festival has been planned to bring unite among the Aimol tribes and to pass down the knowledge of their culture and tradition to the younger generations.
He the appeal all sections of the people to refrain from imposing any kind of bandhs or blockades on the day of festival.
