Organisation for Indian Women Against Crime (OIWAC) has strongly condemned the suspicious death of one Sorenshangbam ongbi Sonibala Devi and Ashem Ongbi Nirmala.
Sorenshangbam Sonibala, a widow whose maternal home is at Haobam Marak Huirem Leikai, allegedly committed suicide by hanging in the wee hours of October 5 .
The organisation claimed that Sorenshangbam Bolo (the victim's brother-in-law), who is currently in the police custody, reportedly confessed to the local club that he raped the victim on the fateful day and there was a fight between the two.
One of the volunteers of the organisation urged the police to launch a speedy probe into the matter and take necessary legal actions as per the law.
There were also scratch marks made by nails on the victim's neck, alleged the volunteer.
The organisation further urged the police to enquire me husband of Ashem ongbi Nirmala, who also allegedly committed suicide inside her room by hanging on October 7, as there has been claims of dispute between the victim and her husband, on the said day.
Ashem ongbi Nirmala worked as a teacher in a private school.
