Imphal, August 30 2013 :
Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has reprimanded seven irregular teachers of Sagolmang Primary School in Imphal East who had signed the attendance register despite being absent at the school.
The seven teachers identified as Head Master i/c Y Jadumani, assistant teachers N Shyamchand, Th Noren, G Bawondev, P Sanatomba (SSA), Daya Irom (SSA) and L Pusparani (SSA) were summoned at the head office of DESAM here today.
Talking to media persons, General Secretary of DESAM Arambam Thoithoi said that the malpractice of the seven teachers was found during a recent inspection at the school.
All of them were found absent at the school, but they had signed the attendance register for all the days on which they were absent.
Interestingly, L Pusparani had signed even on February 29 which does not exist in this year's calendar.
The authorities concerned should take strict action against such teachers who only care about salary but do not want to teach the students.
The teachers are well respected, but the acts of some teachers can be disastrous to the society, he averred.
Thoithoi further appealed to all teachers to have dedication and commitment in their profession and bring up the education system of the State.
