Imphal, March 27 2012:
Manipur People's Party (MPP) is likely to elect a new president.
According to a reliable source, the party would be convening a meeting of its Central Working Committee tomorrow to review the dismal performance of the party in the recent elections to the 10th Manipur State Assembly.
In the meeting, the incumbent President Dr Nimaichand Luwang is likely to tender notice for resignation, thus paving away for appointment of a new party chief.
The source revealed that present Party President Dr Nimaichand Luwang is to resign from the post of President as he would be quite busy with his personal work as Professor of medicine in three medical colleges outside the state.
The source further disclosed that if at all, Dr Nimaichand Luwang tenders his resignation, then the Working Committee would be giving its approval and the present Vice President Sanasam Umananda would be placed as the ad hoc President of the party.
