President Patil leads in Cheiraoba greetings

President of India Pratibha Devisingh Patil, Governor of Manipur Gurbachan Jagat, Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh and others have extended the greetings to the people of Manipur on the occasion of Sajibu Cheiraoba (New Year) festival which is being celebrated tomorrow.
In a message released from Rashtrapati Bhavan on the eve of Chaitra Sukladi, Ugadi, Gudi Padava, Chetti Chand, Navreh and Sajibu Cheiraoba which are being celebrated tomorrow, President Pratibha Devisingh Patil said: "On the auspicious occasion of Chaitra Sukladi, Ugadi, Gudi Padava, Cheti Chand, Navreh and Sajibu Cheiraoba, I send my greetings to all those celebrating these festivals in different parts of the country.
May these festivals strengthen the bonds of unity amongst the people of different regions of the country" .
Greeting the people of Manipur, Governor Gurbachan Jagat said, "When entering into the New Year, we should adopt new resolutions for the coming year.
On this occasion, we should dedicate ourselves to gathering renewed strength and confidence in order to strengthen the bonds of friendship, brother and peaceful co-existence amongst all sections of the people, irrespective of caste, creed, language and religion" .
In his message to the people, Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh observed that "Sajibu Nongma Panba marks the end of the previous year and the onset of the New Year.
On this auspicious occasion, youngsters seek the blessings of elders for a happy long life.
With the advent of a New Year, let us strive to work for unity and peaceful co-existence amongst all sections of the society in the state" .
Maj Gen Binnoy Poonnen, VSM, GOC, Red Shield Division and all ranks of the Division extended their warm greetings to the people of Manipur on the occasion of "SAJIBU NONGMAPANBA (Cheiraoba)" .
'May this festival brings peace, joy and prosperity among the people so that Manipur may flourish and be blessed with everlasting peace', said the General.
Major General U K Gurung, YSM, IGAR (South) and All Ranks of Assam Rifles have also greeted the people of Manipur on the auspicious occasion of "SAJIBU NONGMAPANBA CHEIRAOBA" .
IGAR (South) expressed that the festival would herald an era of peace, progress and prosperity in Manipur and enhance the spirit of unity, cohesiveness and brotherhood in the region.
MP Dr T Meinya, Home Minister and MPCC President Gaikhangam, Minority Cell of Manipur People's Party, South East Asia Cultural Organisation and Kangleipak Socialist Students' Union (KASSU), etc have also extended greetings to the people on the occasion of Sajibu Nongma Panba Cheiraoba.
