MLA Shyamkr freed from cases against him

Pronouncing that charges levelled against the former Deputy Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly were unfounded, the Additional Sessions Judge, Tis Hazari, New Delhi today discharged MLA Th Shyamkumar from the case registered against him by the Delhi Police on alleged charge of having connection with underground activists.
Delhi Police registered the case against Th Shyamkumar after he was arrested along with two senior members of United National Liberation Front (UNLF) from Indira Gandhi International Airport New Delhi on October 2, 2006, while he was about to take a flight to Kathmandu.
Shyamkumar was elected as MLA of the state Assembly on a MPP ticket in 2007 while still in detention in Tihar Jail.
He was released on bail in March 2007.After that he was elected as Deputy Speaker of the state Assembly.
After the Delhi High Court rejected his application praying for bail in April 2009, he resigned from the Deputy Speakership and surrendered before a Court at Imphal.
Confirming the discharge of the MLA from the case, W Sanaton, vice president of the Development Organisation, Andro Kendra said that the organisation welcomes the ruling of the Additional Sessions Judge, Tis Hazari, New Delhi.
Today is a historic day for the people of Andro Kendra, he added.
