IRCS youth brigade sanitises Senapati town

With an aim to contain the spread of Covid-19 in the district headquarters, the Youth Brigade of Indian Red Cross Society, Senapati district on Sunday sanitized the entire Senapati town area from below the Old District Hospital area to TNK, Senapati.
Briefing media persons in this regard, KL Andrew, chairman of IRCS Senapati, said that the Youth Brigade of IRCS Senapati has been sanitizing different places in the district headquarters since the beginning of the pandemic last year.
The day's sodium hypochlorite was donated by one Stevenson Golmei of Namgailong Rongmei village, near Katomei village under Senapati district.
The district chairman of IRCS further said that all germs and viruses could get killed once sanitized at a place.
Senapati being connected by national and international highways is the lifeline of Manipur state, which calls for a joint effort against the pandemic, he added.
Drawing attention of the authority concerned, the IRCS district chairman highlighted the need for 2-3 vehicles for the Youth Brigade and its executives, citing the recent bus accident near Makhan, Senapati district where 12 passengers were killed in the accident.
In their rescue work, the IRCS on a Shaktiman truck reached the spot late due to non-availability of ambulance and, unfortunately, five passengers succumbed to their injuries on the way to the nearest medical centre.
The chairman regretted having no ambulance in the district which prevented the IRCS from saving lives, referring to the accident.
He then drew the attention of the authority concerned to provide an ambulance to the Youth Brigade, IRCS, Senapati district in view of the district being an accident-prone zone with the national highways passing through the district.
The youth brigade has reportedly carried out 23 rescue missions till date.
Andrew also sought full cooperation from all as the IRCS team has been sacrificing everything for the safety of all in the district.
