Imphal, April 15 2019:
The Central Election Committee for BJP candidate has petitioned the Chief Election Commissioner to exclude 220 polling stations of Senapati district from vote counting and to take strong action against NSCN (IM) cadres for kidnapping and torturing innocent BJP voters in Senapati district.
In the petition addressed to the CEC, the Central Election Committee for BJP candidate alleged that armed NSCN (IM) cadres abducted, threatened and tortured innocent civilians who were later rescued by the Assam Rifles and Manipur police.
The Election Committee alleged further that NSCN (IM) had warned and threatened villagers to vote for NPF, captured polling booths, threatened polling officials of dire consequences if they were not allowed to do as they pleased.
Under threat the voters were forced to vote for the NPF candidate, alleged the Election Committee and added that NSCN (IM) cadres sat near the EVMs to ensure that the voters voted for the NPF candidate.
The Election Committee for the BJP candidate urged the CEC to bar all votes polled in Senapatri district and order a repoll so that the rule of law is upheld.
