AR distributes solar lights to villagers

Imphal, March 27 2012:
42 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) provided Solar Lights to Langol Village in Chandel district in a function today.
Seven solar street lights were donated to the Village Authority of Langol Village by Major General U K Gurung, YSM, IGAR (South) under its OP SAMARITAN project of Army on request of village authority, according to a press release of PRO IGAR (S) .
Major General U K Gurung, YSM, while addressing the villagers at the occasion, the IGAR (S) urged the Chief to install the solar lights at their village at strategic locations so that all villagers enjoy the benefit.
He also urged the people to come forward and move progressively towards peace and prosperity and assured them of full support and cooperation of Assam Rifles in achieving it.
The village chief and civil administration expressed their heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to Assam Rifles for the great favour done to them by installing of Solar Lights System.
In another occasion, 10 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector under HQ IGAR (South) donated Water Tank and Water Supply Scheme to Sehjang village of Tamenglong district on March 26 .
The water supply scheme was handed over to the village authority in a ceremony in presence of local populace.
In yet another occasion, 24 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector under HQ IGAR (S) distributed sports items to Phalbung village today.
The distribution of sports items will promote peace and harmony through games and sports and to fortify and develop the spirit of games and sports among the youngsters, the release added.
