Students protest demanding required teachers

Bishnupur, February 19 2018:
Students of Kwakta High School, Kwakta under ZEO Zone IV, Moirang AC, Bishnupur district took out a rally today demanding adequate teachers.
The school which has a strength of 432 students currently has 5 teachers only.
The number of teachers was reduced to 5 from 11 after 2 teachers resigned and 4 were transferred from the school in January.
The students today protested the transfer of the teachers and took out the rally from the school campus to Kwakta Bazar demanding adequate teachers.
How can 5 teachers teach a total of 432 students asked the students at the rally today.
The students shouted several slogans and desplayed placards condemning the Government at the rally.
The school not only lacks the required number of teachers but also furnitures and other equipments, said secretary of the school management and development committee Md Fakkaruddin.
The school had to close this year's admission early due to lack of teachers, he said.
The school being the only Government school in the area, many of the local children are left out, he added.
The students appealed the Government and concerned department to send required teachers of the school and warned that they will take up intense agitation if the concerned department failed to meet their demands by February 28 .
