Imphal, June 29 2015 :
Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam termed as "unfortunate" the remarks made by Nagaland Chief Minister TR Zeliang that the Dzkou valley impasse must be dealt with by customary laws of the Nagas and that Manipur Government's intervention was uncalled for.
Nagaland Chief Minister TR Zeliang's unwelcome remark over the Dzkou valley by also stating that Naga social organizations had been charged to bring an amicable solution to it was an "unbecoming language," the Deputy Chief Minister said while responding to a calling attention motion moved by MLAs Th Shyamkumar and K Shyam in the House on Monday.
"We've proper established laws.
It's the bounden duty of the Centre to intervene in the matter.
Not a piece of land in Dzkou will be ceded.
Other States do not need to give advice on the boundary issue," he said.
Expressing Manipur Government's concern over the issue, he reaffirmed the State Government's stance on safeguarding the territorial integrity.
On top of the IRB Battalion now stationed at Dzkou, the Government may despatch one additional company of IRB to the area very soon, he assured.
Gaikhangam, who is also holding the Home portfolio, informed the House that the Government has plan to set up a Sub-Divisional Officer's office in Dzkou valley.
He said the Manipur Government has already put up the matter with the Prime Minister and the Home Minister as well.
The State Government will not take the Dzkou issue casually because of its very serious nature, Gaikhangam said.
He assured that the Government will make alternative arrangement for all Mao students who have been reportedly expelled from Nagaland.
Th Shyamkumar said the State Government needs concentrated effort to act on time to handle the Dzkou impasse and cautioned that certain difficulties and problems could emerge out of the issue in near future.
