Imphal, August 31 2012:
Continuing with the drive against illegal migrants, Jiribam police pushed back 50 suspected foreigners from entering Manipur today at Jiribam.
Police personnel have been stationed at Leingangpokpi, Jirighat and Gulathon and in front of Jiribam police station to detect the entry of illegal migrants, said a police source.
Travel agencies at Jiribam have also been instructed by the police not to sell tickets to anyone without valid documents.
Meanwhile, acting on specific instructions from the Union Home Ministry, Manipur Police continued with the drive against illegal migrants and pulled up a large number of people for verification today too.
Since early morning, Imphal West District Police conducted raids at Uripok, Nagamapal and North AOC.

Suspected migrants pulled up from these areas were assembled at Bengali High School for verification of their identity and nationality.
However, only one of them was found to be a Nepali National and he has been put under police custody.
A large number of people were also found holding photostat copies of electoral photo identity cards.
It was also detected that one particular DTO of a district issued driving licences in excess which can be used as residential proofs.
Strangely, some landlords in whose rented rooms migrant workers were staying did not know how many tenants were staying in their own houses.
