Imphal, April 20 2015 :
Committee on mass grave at Tombisana School formed by several groups of students and civil society organisations has flayed the chief minister Okram Ibobi who tried to wish away the recovery of skulls from the Tombisana school compound as merely a passing phase.
Reacting to the casual announcement by Ibobi on the reported refusal by the CBI to take over the case Laishram Sanajaoba Meetei, convener of COMGATS said on Monday that it was deplorable that even after four months the government has been unable to find any clue.
The eight human skulls were recovered from the school compound on December 25, 2014.Ibobi who kept the matter pending for four months casually told some reporters that the CBI had refused to probe it.
It amounts to being a leaderless land.
Three months back COMGATS had submitted a memorandum and he has not implemented any of the issues raised.
It wants to know why the government is not taking steps to institute a judicial inquiry to be headed by a retired judge since the CBI had spurned it.
It will not take lightly the puerile and irresponsible statement of the chief minister on this serious issue.
Time is overdue for the government to tell the people the truth if it will not be able to find out the clues.
In that case a people's independent inquiry will be instituted.
It also wants to know where the skeletons are being kept and what the government is going to do in this regard.
COMGATS had already conveyed its reservation on the CBI inquiry since there was no proper probe by this agency.
A demand had been made for a judicial inquiry with the involvement of experts in the related fields.
The statement of the chief minister is not acceptable to the people.
