Bishnupur, September 16 2018:
The 35th foundation day of Bishnupur District Mahila Congress Committee was held at Nambol Block Congress Committee office today.
MPCC vice president and MLA, Nameirakpam Loken, District Mahila Congress Committee president Ningthoujam (o) Sanahanbi, MPCC vice president Tongram Mangibabu, PCC Member Dr I Ibohalbi and PCC co-opted Member Ningthoujam Mangi attended the event as the chief guest, president and guests of honour respectively.
Hoisting of Mahila Congress flag as well as a public discussion programme constituted the main part of the event today.
Speaking at the event, N Loken said that the Congress has been playing a big role in ensuring women get a huge role in electoral politics.
Between 1984-85, when late Rajiv Gandhi was the Prime Minister, proposals were made to reserve 33 percent of the seats in the Panchayats and Urban Local Bodies for women.
Even though it did not materialise at the time, it became a reality in 1993-94, during the time of PM Narasimha Rao.
This goes to show that no political parties, except Congress, have worked hard for the upliftment of women, he claimed.
He continued that after Sonia Gandhi handed over charge to Rahul Gandhi, the Congress party has shifted its interest towards Manipur.
As a result, MLA Gaikhangam was appointed as a Member of Congress Working Committee, MLA RK Imo has been included in the Drafting Committee and former MLA Victor Keishing has been appointed as the Secretary of AICC, he added.
On the other hand, the people have lost complete trust in the BJP after it came to power in both the Centre and the State, Loken alleged and added that the Union Ministers who visited Manipur before the election are now nowhere to be seen.
There has been no news about the so called packages announced by the State Government in the past, he said.
Pointing out that he has no knowledge about the trend of the BJP State Government's Go to Village Mission, Loken claimed that in case of Nambol A/C, the mission has become a front for election campaign for the BJP.
With the fast approaching Lok Sabha election, he asked what the BJP has done for Nambol A/C till date and claimed that after the Lok Sabha election, BJP will not be able to rise again and Narendra Modi will not return as Prime Minister ever again.
On the other hand, PCC co-opted Member N Mangi questioned how the BJP party, which was not even able to save some of Manipur land in the Border Pillar issue, will be able to save the whole State.
He also claimed that he joined the Congress party after seeing through, the lies of Narendra Modi's 'Sab Ka Sath Sab Ka Vikash' slogan.
All of BJP's so called promises like bringing back black money from overseas, providing Rs 15 lakh for every individual, employment for each and every one etc have turned out to be utter lies, he alleged.
He also asked what the State Government, which dances to the tune of the RSS, can even do regarding VC AP Pandey who is despised by the people of Manipur.
