Sumis reaffirm stand to abrogate ties with I-M

Sumi Hoho has reaffirmed its earlier decision to abrogate relations with NSCN (I-M) and also not to pay tax to the group.
The reaffirmation followed an executive meeting of the Sumi Hoho held on May 23 at Sumi Hoho Ki, Zunheboto.
In a press release issued by its president Toniho Yepthomi and general secretary Vihuto Asumi, Sumi Hoho, the apex body of the Sumi tribe in Nagaland, recalled the January 7, 2014 resolution adopted by the Sumi general session which included declaring December 28 as "Sumi Martyrs' Day" every year in honour of the "heroes who laid down their lives for the cause and the destiny of the Sumi people" .
Sumi Hoho also decided to name the burial place for the "Sumi heroes" donated by progenies of late Kuhozu Yepthomi as "Sumi Martyrs' Park" .
The other decisions included abrogation of ties with NSCN (I-M) and the resolution to not to pay taxation in any form to the same group.
Meanwhile, Sumi Hoho has stated that if and when any act of "violence or desecration" was inflicted upon Sumi individual or community in the coming days, the entire Sumi populace would retaliate and that no NSCN (I-M) designated camp would be allowed to be established in the entire Sumi inhabited areas.
Further, Sumi Hoho also reaffirmed the January 15, 2008 Sumi public rally resolution which was further strengthened at the Sumi general session on August 9, 2011 declaring the entire Sumi inhabited area as the "Peace Zone" .
During the May 23 meeting, the Hoho lauded Against Corruption And Unabated Taxation (ACAUT) Nagaland for the movement against corruption and unabated taxation which was "a pro-people fight for the welfare of the general public", said the press release.
