Children's Day celebrated

HM Higher Secondary School, Keithelmanbi celebrated the school's 28th Children's Day cum annual prize distribution ceremony as part of the Nationwide Children's Day observation today at Janglenlal Hall, Keithelmanbi in Kangpokpi district.
The school Principal, Letsei Lhouvum graced the occasion as chief guest while the school students' union vice president, Haojangul attended as functional president apart from S Singsit, founder of the school, staffs, children and their parents/guardians.
"Create history, don't just read History," said Letsei Lhouvum, the school Principal motivating the student community during his short speech.
Children's Day is the birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India, who took part in the freedom movement, he said.
He continued that according to Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, childhood is a very enjoyable and also very sensitive stage of life - a stage for building good character and good attitude.
Children displayed various cultural dance and talent shows to mark the day.
Winners of the annual school sports meet held earlier were awarded at the event.
Yellow House of the school begged the overall team champion and they were awarded with a trophy and citation.
In Tengnoupal district, St George High School Moreh also celebrated Children's Day today.
Students of the school presented various cultural dances and songs at the event which was attended by the Father of the school and teachers.
Winners of the Sports Meet 2018 held earlier were encouraged with prizes.
Children were given sweets to complete the celebrations.
