Education Minister stresses need of regulating school vehicle services

Education Minister Thokchom Radheshyam said that opinion on norms for regulation of school vehicle services will be sought soon from the schools, people involved with the task of transporting students at school.
He said that it is a common, but an unpleasant sight seeing young children packed in vans for schools.
The Minister said that people, associated with the transportation of school children, will be invited for a discussion in order to curve a better policy so that fair and appropriate rules can be laid down.
He explained that such regulations will facilitate the young children have better transportation and experience.
He said the children are the true treasures and they should be nurtured.
The Minister was speaking at the 10th Teachers' Day cum Parents Teachers Meet, 2018 at the Communicative English Language Teaching Institute (CELTI), Thoubal.
Highlighting the importance of school assignment, he expressed that the assignments are given to the students to increase their learning capabilities.
"However, it is very unfortunate that due to the availability of the ready-made assignments on sale, the process of carrying out the assignment is rather becoming more of a cut-and-paste," he added.
"It is therefore important that the students are encouraged to carry out their tasks honestly.
This will help them develop and enhance their learning skills and discover their innate abilities and exhibit their talents," he said.
"Responsibilities of parents do not end with sending the children to school and likewise teachers' duties toward the students are not confined only within the four walls of the school and completion of syllabus.
Teachers and parents have the responsibilities to nurture the minds of the students and prepare them with care for the challenges they may face in life, he said.
He encouraged students, teachers and parents to make the school a healthy place for learning.
