Imphal, July 08 2011:
A residence body today banished a man and his family from the locality forever for allegedly attempting to rape his brother-in-law's teenager daughter.
The accused has been identified as Rajen (55) of Meino Leirak Meisnam Nongthombam Leikai.
According to a source from locality, Rajen has been sexually harassing sixteen years old daughter of his brother-in-law for the past five months.
The first attempt came in February when she was taken to a room in Nirmala Hotel in Imphal in the pretext of sharing a policy program of IDBI bank.
In the room that day the accused threw himself on the teenager and attempted to rape her but she screamed to draw attention from the surrounding.
The accused had then panicked and refrained.
He threatened the girl with dire consequences if she tell on him, the source quoted the teenager as saying.
At the latest, the accused reportedly overpower the teenager yesterday again while she was taking bath.
Being shaken she ran off to her mother's house in the same locality.
She is presently staying with her step mother.
After having disclosed about the vulgar incident, a quarrel broke out between her mother and the accused.
Later on at about 9:30 pm when the news was out in the open, few people of the locality gathered before the accused house and began rampaging through his property.
At about 1 in the morning, the accused surrendered before the police fearing public backlash.
A meeting today of Maisnam Nongthombam Leikai Development Club resolved that the accused should be banished forever from the locality with his family for his sexual misconduct and anybody who tried to provide any sort of assistance will meet the same fate as the accused and his family.
