Lamka, May 26 2014:
As a significant move towards revamping education in Churachandpur district, Director of Education (S) H.Deleep Singh today instructed Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) and all heads of educational institutions in the district to take stringent measures for ensuring regular attendance of teachers in their institutions particularly in the rural and remote areas.
In an instruction, Director of Education (S) said that absenteeism of teachers is closely associated with the engagement of substitute teachers who are not adequately qualified for the job.
Absenteeism of teachers particularly in the interior areas of the district and even in some of the favourably located schools pose a grave challenge in the endeavour of the department to ensure implementation of an effective and equitable quality education, he said.
While pointing out that the department feels the absolute necessity of tackling the twin issues of absenteeism and substitute engagement of teachers on zero tolerance basis, he announced that it shall now be mandatory for heads of institutions to report cases of prolonged absence of teachers.
If there is any case of continued payment of salaries in spite of the prolonged absence of a teacher, the concerned Head of Institution or Head of Department or DDO shall be held liable under relevant Acts and rules applicable in the state, he warned.
