MPP VP detained under NSA

Imphal, November 08 2011:
MPP Vice-President Y.Mangi and two other individuals have been detained under National Security Act (NSA) and two others were released on bail today after they were produced before the Imphal West Chief Judicial Magistrate, Cheirap court here.
The NSA detainees, apart from Mangi, are Haobijam Ranjit alias Lukhoi, 36 s/o H.Shyamkeshwor of Luwangsangbam and Y.Biju, 33 s/o Y.Tombi of Khagempalli Panthak in Imphal west.
However,Y.Thain alias Lokeshwor, 42 of Khabam Lamkhai, Imphal West and R.K.Joisana, 44 of Luwangsangbam, Imphal East were released on PR bone of Rs 10,000 each.
It is worth noting that five persons were apprehended by police along with a 9mm pistol with six live rounds on October 30 at Khagempalli Panthak in Imphal West when they were coming in a Bolero Jeep which reportedly belongs to Y.Mangi, Vice-President of MPP.
They had been in the news recently following their arrests and the police charged the MPP Vice President of being a conduit of the banned militant group PREPAK while the other three were activists working for the group, according to police.
Meanwhile, a self-styled lieutenant of the proscribed UNLF has been nabbed by a combined team of Thoubal district police commandos and 15 Assam rifles in Nongbram area under Yairipok police station, Thoubal district this afternoon, a police source said.
The arrested is identified as Chabungbam Kiran alias Naotomba, 36 s/o Amutombi of Wabgai in Thoubal district, the source said.
One .32 pistol was recovered from him, it added.
