Slain KNA cadres identified

The four cadres of the proscribed UG group Kuki National Army (KNA) who were reportedly killed during an encounter with troops of 44 AR at Phaikot village under Chassad Police Station, Ukhrul district yesterday have been identified today.
According to police sources, the four slain KNA cadres were Lunngam Haokip (45) s/o late Lukhungam of Chassad village, Thangboi Mate (32) s/o Langthang of H Mongyang village, Chandel district; Yamkhojang (33) s/o Mashang of Ukhrul but staying at Sanabung village in CCpur district and Sangtilen (29) s/o Totang of Salvoilup village, Ukhrul district.
Among them, Lunngam Haokip was holding the post of a commander in KNA.
He is survived by his wife, four sons and one daughter.
On the other hand, the dead body of a man who was recovered from S Seija village under Yairipok Police Station on June 28 has been identified today by his family members.
He was one Khumanthem Sunil alias Nanao (21) s/o late Kh Shamu of Awang Khunou Lamkhai under Patsoi Police station.
Family members said that he was arrested as KCP cadre on March 24 and released in May after spending in jail.
Since then he was working as a second driver of a passenger bus plying between Imphal and Ukhrul.
On June 24, he called his younger brother Tomba at North AOC and gave him some money for family expenses.
After that, they could not establish any communications with him.
It may be mentioned that he was found with multiple injuries from thrashing on his face, chest and belly and bullet injuries on his head.
His hands and legs were tied when his body was found.
