State Govt mulls more quarantine centres

The COVID-19 State consultative committee headed by the Chief Minister as chairman held a meeting today and discussed about opening more quarantine centres in consultation with MLAs.
The first meeting of the consultative committee was held in the Chief Minister's office this afternoon with N Biren in the chair.
The meeting primarily discussed about what the State should do after the current lockdown is lifted.
After deliberation on quarantining the around 30,000 Manipuris who are currently staying outside the State as and when they return to the State after the lockdown is lifted, the committee decided to open more quarantine centres in consultation with local MLAs, clubs, NGOs and the Health Department.
The Chief Minister asked all officials who attended the meeting to start due preparations for opening more quarantine centres from now on.
The meeting agreed that MLAs would take pro-active roles in bringing understanding with local people on opening quarantine centres at their localities.
All the people who return to the State from places which have positive COVID-19 cases would be housed in quarantine centres as decided at the meeting.
Strict security measures would be initiated at all other districts which share international boundary with Myanmar as done in Churachandpur district, said another resolution of the consultative committee meeting.
The reluctance of hospitals including private hospitals to provide emergency services in view of the high rate of asymptomatic COVID-19 cases was another agenda of the meeting.
The meeting discussed about resumption of OPD service and routine operations in hospitals but no concrete decision was adopted.
The need to carry out COVID-19 test on all patients who need hospitalisation and emergency operations too figured at the meeting.
Health Minister L Jayantakumar, Works Minister Th Biswajit, CAF&PD Minister Karam Shyam, YAS Minister Letpao Haokip, PHED Minister L Dikho, MLAs Awangbow Newmai, Govindas Konthoujam, Md Asabuddin, Kh Joykisan, Alfred Arthur, RIMS Director Prof A Santa, JNIMS Director Prof Th Bhimo, Babina Group of Company Chairman Dr Th Dhaballi, Shija Hospital Chairman Dr Kh Palin and MU Economics Department Professor Ch Priyoranjan attended the meeting.
The Chief Secretary, DGP, Principal Secretary (Health), NHM State Mission Director and the Health Director who are members of the consultative committee too attended the meeting.
