Imphal, December 19 2015 :
As a part of the country-wide protest against dragging Indian National Congress (INC) president Sonia Gandhi and vice-president Rahul Gandhi to Court on alleged fabricated charges, members of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) staged a sit-in-protest at Congress Bhavan here this afternoon.
Many Congress leaders including Chief Minister O Ibobi, MPCC president Gaikhangam, Ministers and MLAs took part in the protest demonstration.
Speaking to media persons by the sideline of the protest demonstration, Gaikhangam maintained that BJP was falsely implicating Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi with a motive to weaken Congress party and cover up their weakness to set a single new agenda of development.
As for the case known as National Herald Case which is being heard in a Delhi Court, there is not much to comment, he said.
Nonetheless, BJP's high-level conspiracy to sully the images of the two Congress leaders and suppress Congress party must be opposed.
The BJP ' s conspiracy is anti-National and challenges the country' s democratic system, he said.
There is no objection to BJP forming Government but they must discharge their duties sincerely with malice towards none.
It would be wrong to turn all Government offices including the PMO into BJP offices, asserted Gaikhangam.
The National Herald started its publication in 1937 under the auspices of Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.
The newspaper was a platform for thousands of freedom fighters.
As the newspaper started its publication without any motive for earning profits, it started facing financial problems with the passage of time just as Simanta Patrika published by MPCC is facing today.
To revive the newspaper is the duty of each and every Congressmen, Gaikhangam said.
Chief Minister O lbobi stated that many more surprises are in store as long as BJP is in power.
Rather than focusing their attention on development, BJP was dragging the INC president and the vice-president to Court with a malicious intention to give a set-back to the Congress party.
Congress party has no objection against investigation into wrongdoings.
Truth will prevail in the ongoing case too.
Notably, the Delhi Court registered the case after economist and politician Subramaniam Swamy filed a petition against Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and their close aides on Novem- ber 1, 2012, and another round of hearing was held today.
Subramaniam Swamy complained that a large number of real estate properties located in Delhi and UP and National Herald have been taken over by the mother-son duo and their aides through fraudulent means.
