Imphal, April 08 2021:
Chief Minister N Biren Singh today announced that a Mass Vaccination Campaign will be conducted from April 11 to 14 this year.
Facilities for vaccination would be made available to all the health care units including private hospitals during the campaign, he added.
He made the announcement after attending a meeting with the Prime Minister and Chief Ministers of all States, through video conferencing, on the prevailing COVID-19 situation in the country.
Biren stated that the percentage of vaccination in the State for individuals above 60 years of age is very low, with nearly 2000 individuals getting vaccinated out of around 6 lakhs so far.
He appealed to the public who are eligible for vaccination to get vaccinated during the mass vaccination campaign so as to prevent the second wave of the pandemic.
Raising concern over the alarming rate of positive cases in some States, he stressed on the need for 100 percent vaccination of Health Care Workers and Front-Line Workers as they are the ones who render services for containment of the pandemic.
Maintaining that the Government had been taking necessary measures to curb the spread of COVID-19, he urged the public to strictly adhere to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and to observe Covid Appropriate Behaviours.
He also appealed to the public to come up for timely testing, if they observe any symptoms, as prevention is the most effective way to successfully fight the pandemic.
The Chief Minister also appealed to the State police and other front line workers to perform their duties sincerely while enforcing the SOPs.
