Imphal, March 27 2012:
The Maram Students' Union (Maralu Karalimei Swijoikang) has welcomed the long overdue initiative of the State Government and its PW department to commence repair work of Maram section of NH-2 .
According to a statement of the MKS, MLA Francis Ngajokpa and Additional Chief Engineer (Works) Temba visited the stretch till Maram today to oversee the condition of NH-2 .
The visit speaks volume about their commitment in walking upto the need of the people.
It said that as road repair works were carried out randomly and haphazardly and quality being compromised, the condition of NH-2 changes every season.
The MKS urged the contractors and the department to ensure that the road is repaired strictly according to the specifications while also cautioning that the department/contractor concerned would bear the brunt for temporary quick fix solutions.
It further urged individuals, organisations and village authorities to see the realisation of the repair work without any hindrance.
