State logs record spike of 767 new cases, 14 more lives lost

A day after registering highest single day spike of 757 new cases on Saturday, the state on Sunday reported yet another highest ever surge of 767 new cases along with 14 fatalities, thus taking the cumulative tally across the 44,000-mark.With the death of 14 more patients in the last 24 hours, the total fatality count has reached 688 .
The 14 fatalities included a 65-year old male (CCpur), a 57-year old male (CCpur), a 69-year old male (IW), a 71-year old male (IW), a 43-year old female (Tbl), a 64-year old male (IW), a 57-year old female (IW), a 60-year old male (IE), a 63-year old male (IE), a 73-year old female (IE), a 60-year old female (IW), a 65-year old female (Kak), a 55-year old female (IW) and a 55-year old female (BPR) who died at DH Churachandpur (2), Shija Hospitals (2), DH Thoubal (1), RIMS (4) and JNIMS (5) hospital respectively.

So far, 12,503 new cases and 283 fatalities were added during the current month including 4360 new cases and 110 fatalities reported in the last seven days.
Since the beginning of the current year, the state has reported 15,901 positive cases and 333 fatalities.
With daily positivity rate running high, the average positivity rate for the current month has reached 18 per cent on Sunday.
According to official reports, all the 767 new cases (398 male & 369 female) are from among the general population and their samples were tested at RIMS (94), JNIMS (91), District Hospitals (273) and other private testing centres (309).The positive cases are from Imphal East (182), Imphal West (320), Thoubal (50), Bishnupur (38), Kakching (44), Ukhrul (17), Churachandpur (71), Chandel (4), Senapati (13), Tamenglong (9), Kamjong (3), Noney (2), Jiribam (5) and Kangpokpi (9) .
All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
In the last 24 hours, 609 patients were discharged from CAPF (42), home isolation (466), RIMS (8), JNIMS (4), RD Wing (3), LANVA (5), BB (10), NSU (7), SHRI (15), CCC Lamboi Khongnangkhong (19), Jivan Hospital (2), Thoubal (8), Bishnupur (3), Kakching (1), Ukhrul (3), Churachandpur (4), Chandel (), Senapati (3), Tamenglong (3) and Jiribam (2) .
The cumulative number of positive cases is 44,089 (general population - 40,370 and CAPF personnel - 3,719).Number of recovered cases is 36,867 (general population - 33,235 and CAPF personnel - 3,632) and number of active cases is 6534 (general population - 6452 and CAPF personnel - 82).The recovery rate is 83.61 per cent.
In the last 24 hours, 1293 D type Oxygen Cylinders and 542 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities.
District Hospital and government institutions have 126D and 61B type filled cylinders and stock position of these district facilities is Bishnupur (28D,0B), Chandel (18D,4B), Churachandpur (11D,4B), Senapati (20D,0B), Thoubal (17D,15B), Ukhrul (10D,OB), Tamenglong (7D,0B), Jiribam (20D,11B), Moreh (5D,6B), Mao (4D, 6B), Kakching (OD,8B), Pherzawl (4D,5B), Noney (2D,1B), Kamjong (3D,0B) and Kangpokpi (5D,1B) .
As of Saturday, 3,45,615 individuals have taken Covid vaccines, CCR report said.
It also informed air passengers, who travelled into the state on May 21 by Indigo flight 6E-6358 in rows 25-31 to report to the Common Covid Control Room 1800-3453818 or respective District Surveillance Officers (DSO) for further surveillance and necessary testing.
Meanwhile, 67 new positive cases were detected during RAT conducted in Kakching district on Sunday.
Of them, 49 cases were detected at government RAT centre, 17 at Jivan Hospital and one at Ema Hospital.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (15,848), Imphal East (10,217), Thoubal (3238), Churachandpur (3072), Kangpokpi (1387), Tamenglong (1668), Bishnupur (2340), Senapati (965), Ukhrul (995), Kakching (1765), Chandel (830), Noney (492), Tengnoupal (473), Jiribam (391), Kamjong (368), and Pherzawl (40).Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (263), Imphal East (175), Thoubal (70), Churachandpur (54), Kangpokpi (19), Tamenglong (7), Bishnupur (45), Senapati (4), Ukhrul (8), Kakching (24), Chandel (12), Noney (1), Tengnoupal (3), Jiribam (1), Kamjong (2), and Pherzawl (0) .
However, the figure does not match with data released by CMOs of some districts.
The state health authority is not willing to provide district-specific case status despite repeated request from media.
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 14,209 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 19,208 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 2,19,922 tests per million population against the national average of 2,36,061 TPM.
Case fatality rate stands at 1.56 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, only 3609 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 21.25 per cent while the cumulative positivity rate further rises to 6.46 per cent.
