MU annual freshers' social meet held

Imphal, February 19 2018:
The Annual Freshers' Social Meet 2018 of Manipur University was held today at the Centenary Hall of the University under the auspices of Manipur University Students' Union (MUSU) .
Professor Adya Prasad Pandey, Vice-Chancellor, MU; Professor Kh Tomba Singh, Dean of Students' Welfare, MU and Mayanglambam Dayaman, president of MUSU attended the meet as the chief guest, guest of honour and president respectively.
The programme began with felicitation of the dignitaries and lighting of the ceremonial lamp.

A calendar of MUSU was also released during the meet.
Addressing the gathering, Prof Pandey stated that such kind of meet is necessary and important for all units of the educational institutions as it helps the fresher students to understand the activities and facilities prevailing in the institution.
He observed that the responsibility lies with the students to fulfil the dreams and expectations of the parents who send them for studies in the university.
He asserted that teachers should be regarded as living God next to parents.
He further stated that teachers are beacon in the path of academic journey to fulfill dreams of the students and their job is not confined only to teaching and research works.
They are mentors who can mold you to the shapes of your desired goals and guide you to become responsible citizen of the county, he added.
"I always treat my students as my own children with the same amount of love and affection.
University is just like a family and students are the members of this family, he stated.
He highlighted the role of various committees and subcommittees who are responsible for various activities of the upcoming 105th ISC.
He urged all the students, teaching and non-teaching staff of the university to work collectively to make the upcoming 105th Indian Science Congress a grand success.
He extended his warm welcome and best wishes to the fresher students for a bright future and more success in the academic front.
Speaking at the occasion, Prof Tomba appealed to the students to attend class regularly and get the most out of their academic sessions.
Dayaman also appealed to the students to maintain academic calendar and peaceful academic atmosphere in the university.
He stated that MUSU welcomes the 105th Indian Science Congress which is going to be held at Manipur University from March 16 to 20 .
