Forest Minister lauds contribution of Talui villagers

Ukhrul, February 23 2021:
Forest and Environment Minister Awangbow Newmai graced the annual seed sowing festival/Lewto Phanat today by hoisting the village flag at Talui village ground.
MLA Khashim Vashum along with the department officials also attended the festival.
Speaking on the occasion, Awangbow Newmai appreciated the contribution of Talui villagers towards the building of a developed Nation and also commended the Talui villagers' collective and ambitious decision to ban plantation of poppy, ganja etc.
'The village determination to preserve forest as well as to protect the flora and fauna found within the jurisdiction of Talui is an exemple for all', he stated.
He maintained that he will personally recommend the State Government to reward Talui village for their enormous contributions.
The Minister also urged the villagers to take up the initiative of spreading environment protection awareness programme to its neighbouring villages as well.
Awangbow assured that he will extend his best support and look into the memorandum submitted to him at the earliest.
MLA Khashim Vashum expressed the need of each individual shouldering responsibilities and said that one has to serve one's people whole heartedly.
The MLA announced that Talui village approach road will be constructed at the estimated cost of Rs 1.5 crore and the augmentation of water project will begin soon.
He further stated the construction for the police station was delayed due to COVID-19 pandemic and assured that the construction work will begin soon.
As a part of the programme, Talui Reisang Youth Club performed Kharing Kharak Pheichak meaning livelihood folk dance to mark the celebration and beginning of the year.
