Digging Kangla Moat: Bombs recovered

A number of bombs of olden days were discovered during digging of Kangla Moat on the northern side of its western gate today.
As a part of the Kangla Moat renovation project, the bed of the canal was dug this morning when a number of mortar shells, explosive components, propellers and one hand grenade were discovered at around 8, informed a source.
It is reported that two of the mortar shells were found in its original shape.
The bombs and explosive components were retrieved by a bomb disposal squad of Manipur Police and they were set off safely on the road connecting Lamphel and Langol.
Notably, six hand grenades were recovered from the southern section of Kangla Moat on September 17 while draining water.
