LoumiLup organises protest meet

Manipur Loumi Lup, as part of the all India programme under the banner of All India Kisan Sabha, organised a well attended protest meeting on June I5 at Irawat Bhawan Imphal.
Comrade N Singhajit, president of Loumi Lup, Comrade S Nilakamal, working president, Comrade: U Rajmohan, V-P, Comrade H Ibobi, V-P was in the dais as the presidium members.
According to a statement, the protest meetihg condemned the killing of 5 innocent farmers on June 6 this year in their protest march demanding crop loan waiving and remunerative price in Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra.
In the presidential speech, N Singhajit highlighted degrading condition in agriculture due to deforestation in the hills, land degradation, depletion and soil erosion, heavy siltation, delay and failure of the agriculture and irrigation related projects, lack of adequate and timely credit facilities to the farmers multiplying the plight and unbearable burden for survival of the poor peasant and farmers.
Comrade A Lala, Kisan in-charge demanded to ensure availability of PDS items to farmers and peasant, granting full participation in NREGS by the farmers with enhanced number of days and wages, payment of compensation to affected farmers of the Loktak Project and revival of the defunct co-operative societies.
H Ibobi Singh, secretary of Manipur Loumi Lup demanded implementation of the Dr Swaminathan Reports, withdrawal of land Acquisition Amendment Bill - 2015, to provide kisan pension of Rs 10,000 to farmers of 60 years of age, to implement progressive land reform Act.
