Maring-Khoibu tribes reconciliate

With the passing of four-point declaration, the internal identity conflict of the Maring-Khoibu tribes comes to an end.
A meeting with the theme Reconciling the World to Himself, was held at Khunbi village, Chandel district yesterday which was jointly organised by Maring Khulbung Nagaland (MKN) and Khoibu Tribe demand Committee.
The meeting admitted a long history of Maring-Khoibu broken relationship with an identity conflict that hurt both sides in the leadership level and on various perspectives of history, culture and traditions.
It also admitted gratuitous upheavals that risked individual and social elements of mutual respect to the extent of vandalism.
Among others, the meeting also acknowledged and appreciated those who have formally apologised and sought forgiveness from each other for the mistakes committed in various quarters.
It also expressed sincere gratitude to the office of the Ato Kilonser and the Ministry of Kilo Affairs particularly the former Kilo Kilonser for facilitating talks between MFO and KTDC through the reconciliation programme.
The joint working committee on Maring Khoibu identity is endorsed to work out modalities acceptable to both the sides for an early solution to the conflict with utmost amicability.
The meeting was attended by people from all walks of life and representatives of GPRN and civil societies based in Chandel district.
The distinguished dignitaries included Th Angdun, President, Maring Uparab Assembly, Tongpu Saka, member KTDC; D Mephun Maring, President, MKN; Moseyl S Khaling, Convenor JWC and Kh Armstrong Charang, member secretary, JWC.
The meeting winded up to a mass token prayer led by Modarshim Makung, Pastor of Meipou Baptist Church.
