Senapati locals seek State Government's attention

Senapati, July 18 2017: The condition of Maram road via Purul and Phaibung is in grave condition owing to the alleged negligence of the State Government for more than a decade coupled with the recent incessant rain in the State .

The road connecting Maram via Purul-Phaibung road is a Major District Road (MDR) shared by the Purul and Phaibung block in Senapati which also connects more than 40 villages in the area making it the busiest road in the district .

However, the negligence of the State Government towards the condition of the road for many years has led to the road becoming an extreme threat to the people due to its deplorable and dangerous condition .

The metallic road construction was completed during the then Minister D Thaisii but soon after his down fall, the road has been completely abandoned which led to the deterioration of the road, said a local from Purul .

The locals took the initiative of repairing the road numerous times but many unwanted road mishaps have caused massive hardship to the inhabitants due to wear and tear of the road, the local told our correspondent .

The locals have to undertake road repairing activities at least twice or thrice in a year by themselves as the Government have allegedly neglected the responsibility.

Owing to the recent incessant shower, the road has been once again disrupted by numerous landslides along the MDR road .

The initiative to repair the road had begun since June but continues even today and clearing of debris of the landslides and constructing of culvert whenever necessary is still going on .

The road between Koide and Purul also faced similar situation while Koide junction to Phuba via Maiba village has been totally cut off by landslide at present .

Though the roads have been repeatedly cleared by the locals, the problems could not be solved permanently owing to the frequent landslide .

While drawing the immediate attention of the State Government and the authority concerned, the local populace fervently appealed the authority concerned to look into the plight of people and initiate immediate measures to solve the misery of the inhabitants.
