Passerby hurt in bomb blast, another dies of BP stroke

Imphal, November 27 2012:
A passerby sustained injuries when a bomb exploded near Khurai Chairen Thongkhong along Imphal-Ukhrul road today.
Hearing the thundering sound of the bomb, a man suffered BP stroke and lost his life enroute to hospital.
Decrying the blast, locals blocked Imphal-Ukhrul road and staged sit-in-protest demonstration.
The incident occurred at around 9:20 am along the eastern side of Imphal-Ukhrul road near Khurai Chairen Makhong.
The injured passerby has been identified as one Md Abdul Jalil (55), s/o late Md Jani of Khurai Khomidok and the other person who suffered BP stroke and died on the way to hospital as Md Motijur (42), s/o Md Suliyan Shah of Kshetri Chanam Leikai.
He was coming out of a friend's house in Khomidok in a car when the blast took place.
The injured passerby was immediately rushed to Raj Polyclinic for treatment.
From there, he was referred to JNIMS for further treatment.
He suffered multiple bomb splinter injuries on his thighs, right hand and chest.
According to reports culled from the place of incident, the bomb blast occurred as soon as an AR convoy in a jeep and a truck crossed the area and reached the gate of School.
The AR convoy sped off along with the sound of the blast.
Locals are of the opinion that the bomb could have been mistakenly dropped from the AR convoy.
However, there are no proofs to support their claim.
Meanwhile, police reports said that some bomb splinters have been recovered from the site of the blast.
However, it could not ascertain whether the blast was triggered by some UG groups to target the security personnel or the bomb accidentally dropped from the AR convoy.
On the other hand, condemning the bomb blast incident, locals came out and blocked Imphal-Ukhrul road at around noon today and barred all types of vehicles moving along the road.
However, police and security vehicles were allowed to pass through.
Students of North Eastern School, Khomidok also staged a sit-in-protest condemning the bomb blast in front of their school gate.
