Following the demolition of an academic office of LMS Law College by students after the teachers and officials concerned failed to turn up for scrutiny process for the students' union election, the existing students' union demanded the election be held on May 30 as scheduled earlier.
As per the earlier notification, last date of filing nominations for Students' Union of LMS Law College election was on May 25 and scrutiny was to be conducted today.
However, all the teachers concerned of the election commission failed to turn up after a notice was served by college Principal Md Salatur Rahaman, which stated that the emergency meeting of the Election Committee held on May 26 had notified that the LMS Law College Students' Union has been temporarily suspended.
When the students approached the authorities concerned of Education (U), the department contacted the college Principal and teachers but none of them responded, said president of LMS Law College Student's Union Nongthombam Kapilchandra at the college premises today.
The Students' Union demanded that college authority should form a new election committee and select a returning officer to conduct the election on May 30 .
