Consumers' Club raids

Senapati, May 26 2014:
The Consumers' Club, Senapati in collaboration with SDSA, SKAWWA and escorted by Senapati police conducted a surprise raid on expired goods and edibles in many shops in Karong, New Karong, Senapati Bazaar, Mt Everest (Taphou areas).
Sing Jerome, General Secretary of the Consumers' Club, Senapati said that the club had not targeted any group or individual.
The campaign was initiated against those shopkeepers who deceive the general public with expired goods.
Edible goods worth 2 lakhs, expired medicines worth 2.5 lakhs and cosmetics worth 50, 0000- rupees were seized.
According to the club, the seized items will be destroyed in the presence of civil bodies, public leaders and District Administration.
