At least 35 Cong candidates will come out successful: CM

Chief Minister O Ibobi who has led the SPF government for the last two consecutive terms in the state is yet again positive that the SPF government will rule the state and said that at least 35 Congress candidates will come out successful.
However, he has expressed doubt in some constituencies including Singjamei, Keishamthong, Thongju and Keirao A/Cs where the Congress candidates are facing stiff competitions.
The Chief Minister along with his wife, O Londhoni, who is the Congress candidate in Khangabok A/C, cast their votes at polling station number 35/39 located at Athokpam Primary School, around 7:30am today.
Though Okram Ibobi is contesting in the 10th Manipur State Assembly Election as a Congress candidate from Thoubal A/C, he has no voting right in this constituency, as he belongs to Khangabok A/C.In a quick chat with media persons after casting his vote, Chief Minister O Ibobi said that among the 10 constituencies in Thoubal district where Congress candidates are being fielded, at least 9 of them will come successful.
The Chief Minister expressed doubt over poll prospect in some constituencies including Singjamei, Keishamthong, Thongju and Keirao A/Cs where the Congress candidates are facing stiff competitions and said that if the Congress candidates do come out successful in these constituencies, there will not be much difference in the number of votes among the opposing candidates.
Meanwhile, a team of media persons who were allotted Letter of Authority by the Election Commission of India (ECI) inspected the 10th Manipur State Assembly Election which was held today.
The media persons inspected the polling stations of Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal, Chandel, Bishnupur, Kangpokpi, Senapati, Ukhrul and.
Churachandpur and checked manner in which the votes were casted by the electorates.
The team witnesses the poll percentage in the Zaphou Bazaar polling station at 29% at around 11am.Polling station number 41/15 at Maha Union Government High School had a polling percentage of 72% at around 11 this morning.
Electors who are supporters of Independent candidate Olish complained that a cadre of NSCN-IM came inside the polling station and had threatened the voters coming to cast their votes in the polling station number 41/15 at Maha Union Government High School, and made them to cast their votes for NPF candidate Nunglur Victor.
The media persons also saw Nunglur Keishing inside the polling station when they went for inspection.
There were also cases of booth capturing and destroying of EVM machines in Polling station number 41/31 and 41/23 of Chandel A/C.The overall poll percentage in this Chandel was 62%, Thoubal was 65% and Imphal East at 74.76% at around 3pm.Meanwhile, the team of media persons who were inspecting the polling stations in different places with the Letter of Authority issued by ECI was obstructed from entering the polling station at Athokpam Primary School by one Inspector of CRPF Narender Kumar.
The media persons were later allowed to enter the polling station.
