One cop injured

One cop injured in a feud among villagers of
Namthanjang located in Senapati district under Saparmeina police
station last night was brought to RIMS.
It was reported that seven villagers sustained injuries in the
clash.
The injured police personnel has been identified as ASI
Ibo Singh, posted at Keithelmanbi police outpost.
He was hit
by a bullet on the left leg.
As he was out of danger, he was discharged this morning.
Speaking to media persons here today, JAC Namthanjang
chairman K Thangonglung alleged that a team of Zeliangrong
Youth Front (ZYF) abducted JAC convenor R Lungthuilung
before the firing incident broke out.
Although it was said ZYF summoned eight villagers in-
cluding office bearers of the JAC, no missive was received in
this regard.
It was also said that R Lungthuilung was among
the eight persons summoned by ZYF.
ZYF volunteers who came in 4/5 cars allegedly abducted
R Lungthuilung from near Keithelmanbi BRTF camp at around
3.30 pm yesterday.
It was learnt that ZYF handed over
Lungthuilung to Saparmeina police station and an FIR was
registered against him.
Condemning the alleged excesses committed by ZYF, K
Thangonglung sought immediate attention of the State Gov-
ernment.
He further confided that Zeliangrong Union (Assam,
Manipur & Nagaland) would intervene into the matter .
