Pong road will be opened and the drainage systems will be improved : Sushindro

Parliamentary Secretary (Home) and Khurai A/C MLA Leishangthem Sushindro has said that the blockage of Pong road which connects with JNIMS would be cleared to ease the suffering and inconveniences faced by the people and the drainage systems of Khurai A/C would be improved.
Speaking to media persons during his visit to inspect the condition of Pong road and the various streams and canals in the A/C today, Sushindro said that the State Government led by Chief Minister N Biren is planning to take up necessary steps to eliminate the difficulties faced by the people during emergencies and while travelling to JNIMS as a result of the blocking of Pong road more than a year ago.
He said that additional works would be taken up in the surrounding areas with the aim of creating a model city inside Khurai A/C and appealed to the people residing in the surrounding areas to support the State Government in clearing the road.
Sushindro also urged JNIMS authority to cooperate with the State Government in trying to prevent artificial flood during monsoon seasons caused by the shrinking Premi canal as a result of the expansion of JNIMS establishment.
He also assured that various streams and canals present in the A/C aside from Premi canal, would be cleaned to prevent artificial floods due to improper drainage adding that around two kilometre long stretch of Premi canal have already been cleaned by using excavators and heavy machines.
Sushindro further conveyed that he had already notified the authority concerned regarding the failure to distribute around seven months worth of rice grains for the people of Khurai A/C under the National Food Security Act.
He also warned the people not to give their ration cards to some individuals who have been reportedly visiting the card holders and collecting their cards on the pretext of correcting errors and mistakes in the card details.
