Imphal, May 08 2017:
Amidst the complaints about non-payment of money for vehicles requisitioned for the 11th Manipur Legislative Assembly election, reports have emerged that the District Election Officer (DEO), Ukhrul has been maintaining a stoic silence after purchasing petrol and diesel worth Rs 1,31,408 on credit from M/S Friendly Enterprises, Khabeishoi for the election purposes.
DEO Ukhrul deposited Rs 2,24,716 at M/S Friendly Enterprises through RTGS for purchasing fuel.
Accordingly, vehicles were refuelled at the fuel outlet till around just Rs 5000/6000 was left out of the deposited money.
The same was informed to the Ukhrul DEO.
Subsequently, the DEO sent a letter to M/S Friendly Enterprises on March 6 demanding 10,000 litres of petrol and 15,000 litres of diesel.
Acting on the DEO's letter, the RO released more fuel.
The RO gave fuel worth Rs 3,56,123 to the Ukhrul DEO.
After subtracting Rs 2,24,716 already deposited, the remaining amount of Rs 1,31,408 is still due to the DEO.
For the remaining amount, M/S Friendly Enterprises sent a reminder along with a bill to the DEO but there is no sign of the DEO paying the amount so far, added the source.
