Imphal, February 21 2012:
Naga People's Front (NPF) candidate K Raina , who contested from Tadubi constituency in Senapati district in the recently Assembly election, has accused the State Election Office of notifying wrong polling stations for which he had not lodged complaints for repoll.
Raina's allegation has come at a time when election officials have detected gross mismatching of voters' photos and the photographs incorporated in the electoral roll prompting the ECI to ask the State Election Office to get ready for another round of repoll.
"On the poll day (January 28), I lodged a verbal complaint on poll malpractices by the Congress candidate's agents and workers in five booths ( 49/11, 12, 13, 14 and 50) with the returning officer .
I demanded repoll in these booths," Raina said.
The following day his election agent Athili lodged the same complaint in written with the Chief Electoral Officer, said Raina.
In the repoll held on February 4, none of the polling stations he sought for the holding the exercise was listed, Raina lamented.
"To my great surprise, the five polling stations we sought for repoll were not incorporated in the list of complaints lodged by different candidates for repoll notified by the state election office.
Instead of the five booths, four polling stations (49/15, 16, 17 and 18), which we did not mention was incorporated," Raina said.
"This is a great blunder on the part of the state election office.
This should not have been happened in the future," Raina said.
