Ratankumar visits flood affected villages

Imphal, July 30 2016 :
Education Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar today visited the flood affected villages of Mayang Imphal Asembly Constituency.
The flood was caused by inundation of water due to closure of the sluice gates of Ithai Barrage.
The Minister visited Phoubakchao, Komlakhong, Laphupat Tera, Bengoon Yangbi, Bengoon Manung and Khordak etc.
Many paddy fields and fish farms were submerged in flood water at these villages.
While speaking to reporters, Ratankumar said that as wished by the people of the area, he requested the Chief Minister and the Minister concerned to open the sluice gates of Ithai barrage.

Ratankumar further said that the Chief Minister talked with the officials of NHPC on the matter yesterday morning.
As a result, all the five sluice gates of the barrage had been opened from yesterday itself, the Minister said.
Ratankumar said that he came to the area to take stock of the situation and check whether the sluice gates are opened or not.
