Imphal, May 26 2015 :
Chief Minister Okram Ibobi's assurance to send represen-tatives to inspect and survey the ongoing boundary issue of Dzukou Valley is a bluff, alleged Information Centre for Hill Areas Manipur (ICHAM) .
ICHAM general secretary Ngaochonmi Ramshang in a press meet today at Manipur Press Club said that the land encroachment issue of Dzukou Valley is more than 30 years old and the State Government has failed to take up necessary measures till date.
Even though numerous memoranda have already been submitted to the State Government by Mao Council, ICHAM and various civil society organisations of the State, authorities concerned have failed to take up any concrete action, he alleged.
Therefore, ICHAM and other civil society organisations had resolved to impose a State-wide general strike on May 23.Yet the authority concerned has failed to take up any step and the Chief Minister assured of an inspection and survey after the ADC election.
"It is unfortunate that a State's leader had said such irresponsible words.
Chief Minister's assurance to take up the issue after the ADC election is something ICHAM had never anticipated.
When the Nagaland Government has already occupied huge areas of our State along with all the natural resources, Chief Minister still wants to wait till the ADC election is over.
His statements showed that there is less co-ordination in the functioning of the State," Ngaochonmi Ramshang said.
Ramshang alleged that the Congress led State Government has no cordial relationship with the public and incites violence amongst different villages by using divide and rule tactics, which is unacceptable.
He asserted that the land encroachment issue of Dzukou Valley should be solved by the State Government and Nagaland and not by the Mao and Angami communities.
He also warned that they would resort to other forms of agitation if the State Government fails to intervene and take up necessary action by May 30 .
