Wild orange found at Azuram

Azuram Village which host the first community reserve forest in Tamenglong District, Tousem Sub Division has good and successful story of a community initiative in conservation.
The forest in Azuram Village, though small in size has a variety of flora and fauna.
The Corbett Foundation with the help of Azuram Village community conducted a small survey in the forest and on their first day, the team found wild orange (citrus indica) in the forest.
According to Mordecai Panmei, an employee of the Corbett Foundation and also Director of The Rainforest Club Tamenglong, wild oranges are naturally grown at the range of Barak River from Namtiram Village to Chingkao Village.
It can be noted that last year during the Nationwide Tiger survey, wild orange was found at Chingkao Village.
There is also news of growing wild orange at Chaengdai forest.
