Thangmeiband AC MLA Kh Joykisan has demanded the contractor who was responsible for the destruction of some parts of Lainingthou Government Junior High School with the promise of rebuilding it but failed to do so even till date, to reveal himself to the public.
Speaking to media persons during an inspection trip to the said school today, the MLA said that a few people came and destroyed some parts of the school on June 9.But when the Additional Director of Education (S) and the ZEO concerned were asked about the rebuilding of the said school, they claimed that they did not have any idea about the development, he alleged.
When asked about the individuals who were responsible for the destruction, the school Headmistress informed that she did not know any of them but the said people told her that it was for the purpose of rebuilding the school, Joykisan conveyed, adding that a school committee meeting had already been organised in the past to discuss the developmental projects to be taken up for the school.
He continued that if the contractor is sent by the Government, then it is well and good but he still expressed desire to meet the contractor face to face and added that the school committee failed to get any form information as to whether the school is going to be developed from the Government's fund or some form of donations.
The MLA stated that if the school is to be constructed under a certain policy of the Government, then the Government officials concerned should have some idea or information about the project.
As the Additional Director of Education (S) and the other officials claim that they did not know anything about the destruction at the school, then the Commissioner of Education (S) should have knowledge about the incident, he claimed.
If the said official also deny any knowledge, then some people with vested interest are trying to ruin the school and the students, Joykisan alleged.
The MLA explained that information and details about such undertaking should also be informed to him as he is the MLA of Thangmeiband.
Even Chief Minister N Biren Singh had said in the Assembly that the MLA of a Kendra needs to be informed about what happens in his/her jurisdiction.
Joykisan continued that the school committee has been unable to find the said contractor who is supposed to build the school and demanded the said individual to reveal himself and contact him (Joykisan) within 24 hours.
He announced that if the said work is done through proper channel, then cooperation will be given but if the opposite turns out to be true, then legal action will be initiated.
