Imphal, November 20 2017:
A huge number of students, led by All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU), tried to storm the CM bungalow today, demanding immediate appointment order for Ngasepam Pikeshwor Singh to the post of Deputy Director (TRI) .
Speaking to media persons in front of the post office building, AMSU's vice president Peter Laishram said that the protest was launched to demand a fair and non biased selection process.
He demanded the appointment order to the post of Deputy Director (TRI) to be issued immediately to the MPSC recommended candidate Ngasepam Pikeshwor Singh.
He also demanded the officials involved in the undue victimisation of the MPSC recommended candidate be penalised with exemplary punitive actions in the interest of fairness in recruitment to Government services and in the interest of the student community of the State.
Peter Laishram said that in connection with the issue, AMSU met the authority concerned on November 4 and the authority had assured the association of a positive response by November 13 .
But no considerations were made with respect to the aforementioned demands to AMSU, he claimed and added that the association has decided to resume continuous agitation until the demands are fulfilled.
He also said that the State Government should be held accountable for any ramifications and untoward incidents which may arise.
