Zeliangrong bodies submit memo to NHRC team

The Zeliangrong Youth Front (ZYF), All Zeliangrong Students' Union (AZSU) and Zeliangrong Students' Union, Manipur (ZSUM) have submitted a memorandum to the Chairman of National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) KG Balakrishnan seeking justice to the victims of human rights violation by the security forces in the Zeliangrong areas.
In a joint representation, the ZYF, AZSU and ZSUM brought to the notice of the NHRC regarding the gross human rights violation by the security forces towards the people in the Zeliangrong areas.
In the representation, the Zeliangrong bodies memorandum cited instances human rights violation including holding captive of a minor girl Alice Kamei by an underground organisation namely PLA; killing of six NSCN (K) cadres in fake encounter by 10 Assam Rifles, under the command of one Ajay Sharma, Commandant and one Major Gagan at K Shonglung village on June 22 this year; illegal detention of Rajanglung Kamei, Captain of NSCN (K) by the 10 AR; assault of Nailin Malangmei (53) a resident of Satudai village by 8 Gorkha Regiment of Red Shield Division on July 14, 2013 without any reason; detention and subsequent torture of two innocent persons of Bitiang (Laphok) village namely Tanthailung Malangmei (25) and Phungangam Malangmei (26) by 10 Assam Rifles on Aug 31, 2013 .
It further pointed out the assault of and threat to leaders of ZYF by personnel of Territorial Army posted at Kaimai village on the National Highway 37 on Oct 14; picking up of three innocent individuals by 10 Assam Rifles jawans from Longmai (Noney) bazaar.
Above all the cases, the Zeliangrong bodies feared possibility of such criminal activities from the end of the security forces unless their activities are checked and examined timely.
