AMSU demands arrest of school authorities

All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) has demanded the immediate arrest of the authorities of Standard Robarth Hr Secondary School for the mysterious death of Ningthoujam Babysana, apart from demanding the immediate and unconditional release of 5 AMSU volunteers who were arrested by Kakching police during the 24 hours all Manipur bandh today.
Speaking to media persons at AMSU HQs today afternoon, its president Peter Laishram said that the 24 hour all Manipur bandh imposed by the JAC is one of the many steps aimed at finding the truth behind the mysterious death of Babysana inside the school boarding and if the State Government fails to take up any positive steps, AMSU is prepared to intensify the agitation.
He demanded the authority concerned to book and interrogate Pheiroijam Landhoni, Principal of the school, Pheiroijam Romita Devi (coordinator), Ibotomba (Administrator), head warden Kamei Illen and dormitory warden Nongmaithem Jinnty, within 12 hours.
Peter further said that AMSU has the names of other teachers who could be involved in the case and announced that their names will be revealed later.
A joint meeting with the parents of the students who are staying at the school boarding, has been planned at Ima Khunthokhanbi Shanglen at 11 am tomorrow, he said, appealing all the parents to attend the said meeting without fail.
AMSU will not entertain any later comments or issue for those who fail to attend the meeting, he cautioned.
He further demanded the State Government to release the 5 volunteers of AMSU Kakching district committee who were arrested by police during the bandh.
On the other hand, according to a reliable source, the 5 volunteers who were detained by Kakching district police, were released late in the evening today.
