Security forces nab ten UG cadres from different locations

Imphal, June 20 2011: Security forces have nabbed ten underground cadres from different places in the past 48 hours.

In the first incident, Imphal West district police commandos arrested one NSCN (IM) activist from a rented house at Paona Bazar, near Pologround Maning.

The house is owned by one Tiken of Langthabal.

The NSCN (IM) activist has been identified as Kairithonang Thiumei (29) s/o Tallangthui Thiumei of Thingra village, Tamenglong district.

On spot verification, Thiumei disclosed that he is working in finance section of the outfit under the command of SK Rongmei s/s Finance in-charge Zeliangrong region, GPRN/NSCN.

Six letterheads of GPRN, two line seals � one for the Principal of Christian Model English Higher Secondary School, Tamenglong and another for the Sub-Deputy Collector, Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Tamenglong were seized from his possession.

In a follow-up action, another NSCN member was also arrested on the same day from Paona Bazar Pologround Maning.

He has been identified as Telem Premchand Singh alias Telem (34) s/o T Tombi of Nongpok Sanjenbam.

On questioning, he disclosed that he contacted concerned officers/engineers of PWD and Education Department under the directives of one Kairithonang, nominee of NSCN for obtaining work order, said a press release issued by Imphal West Senior SP.

In another incident, a combined team of Imphal East district police commandos and troops of 23 Assam Rifles arrested three cadres of KCP (City Meitei) group from Thamnapokpi on July 17 .

The cadres have been identified as Shukham Ananta Meitei alias Nanao alias Salai (20) s/o Muhindro of Thamnapokpi Makha Leikai, Keisham Bindu Singh (37) s/o Achoubi of Thamnapokpi Makha Leikai and Okram Somorjit Meitei alias Hemjit Singh alias Somo (24) s/o Chandra Meitei of Thamnapokpi Awang Leikai.

On questioning, Ananta Meitei disclosed that he was involved in the killing of one woman political worker of Minister Ph Parijat at Shabungkhok on July 28 last year.

K Bindu on the other hand disclosed that he was involved in the extortion of Rs 5 lakhs from one Ram of Yourbung.

Somorjit disclosed that he was involved in the killing of a political worker of Minister N Loken at Wahengkhuman in April last year and shooting at of Shyamkeshor, president of Yaingangpokpi Bazar Board at Leimakhong Mapal in August last year.

He was also involved in the extortion of Rs 1 lakh from Shija Hospitals.

In a follow-up action, one 9 mm pistol loaded with three live rounds was recovered from the cattle shed of Okram Somorjit.

Another 9 mm pistol loaded with two live rounds was also recovered from the room of Shukham Ananta, said a press release issued by Imphal East SP.

In yet another incident, troops of 29 Assam Rifles nabbed one KCP cadre and two MNRF cadres from Chamol road of Chandel district.

The KCP cadre has been identified as No 397 pte Thongam Ngongo alias Chinglakpa Singh (22) s/o Santa of Sugnu Turel Wangma while the MNRF cadres have been identified as Baringam (37) s/o Wung Jui of Lamphu, Litan and KS Hillary (24) s/o Samson of Shingkap, Litan.

Two mobile handsets and one agreement letter issued by s/s lt col Krity Meitei alias Ibomcha of KCP and Indian currency Rs 2,280 were seized from their possession.

The cadres along with the seized items have been handed over to Imphal west police station, said a press release issued PRO Hqs IGAR (S) .

In another incident, Imphal West district police commandos arrested one active member of KCP (Sunil Meitei) group from Yumnam Huidrom Mamang Leikai yesterday.

The cadre has been identified as Huidrom Shantikumar Singh (33) s/o Konungjao of Yumnam Huidrom Makha Leikai.

One AK-56 rifle with two magazines along with 20 ammunition were recovered from Shabungkhok Mamang Leikai on his disclosure, said a press release issued by Imphal West Senior SP.

In another incident, 5 Assam Rifles under Red Shield Division nabbed one hardcore activist of finance wing of PLA from Senapati town yesterday.

He has been identified as s/s sgt Lisyai Lana Poumai (25) s/o Khukhoi Poumai of Khamsong village, Ukhrul district.

Lisyai got training in Myanmar in 2006 and had been apprehended twice by Manipur Commandos earlier.

He has been handed over to Imphal West police station, said a press release issued by PIB (DW) .
